Pick your grade.

Dtex is the weight of the grass yarn. A heavier yarn lasts longer under studs. Pick by how many hours a week the ground will be used, not by the biggest number.

Base to line marking, one partner.

A surface is only as good as what it sits on. ILAN builds the base, lays the turf and marks the lines, so one team owns the levels, the drainage and the result.

/ 01
Excavation & grading

Cut to formation level, proof-rolled, graded to the designed falls (0.5–1%) so water leaves the field, never pools on it.

/ 02
Sub-base

Granular sub-base (GSB) 150–200 mm and wet-mix macadam (WMM) 100–150 mm, compacted in layers and tested for density.

/ 03
Finished base

Dense asphalt 40–50 mm or PCC, laid to a 3 mm over 3 m flatness tolerance, with shock pad where the system calls for it.

/ 04
Drainage & edging

Perimeter drains, catch pits and kerbing, so the surface stays dry and the edges hold for years.

Keeping a pitch playable
Weekly

Clear leaves and litter. Debris trapped in infill holds moisture and shortens fibre life.

Monthly

Drag-brush the full field to redistribute infill and lift the pile. This is the single most valuable thing you can do to a football pitch.

Seasonally

Check infill depth across the field, goalmouths and centre circle lose it fastest, and top up. Decompact high-traffic zones.

Annually

A deep-clean and decompaction pass, plus a seam and line-marking inspection before the season.

Questions, asked often
How long does a football turf pitch last?
Service life is driven by traffic hours, sun exposure and maintenance far more than by the roll. A well-maintained, correctly based pitch on a quality system lasts many seasons; the same system unbrushed with infill left low will not. Warranty terms are confirmed per system, ask for the current data sheet.
What is dtex, and does a higher number mean better?
Dtex is the weight of the yarn, how much material is in each fibre. Higher dtex means a heavier, more durable fibre, which is why our range runs from 12,000 up to 18,000. But higher is not automatically right: the correct dtex depends on the level of play and the traffic the pitch will take.
Infill or non-infill, which do we need?
Infill systems use sand and rubber to support the fibre and give the ball-roll and shock absorption competitive football expects. Non-infill is chosen for rooftops, small-sided courts and areas where infill migration or loading is a problem. We will tell you which your project actually needs at survey.
Do you supply FIFA-certified systems?
We supply systems tested to FIFA standards and can provide the test reports for them. Note that a FIFA-certified field requires the installed pitch to be tested and certified separately, that is a distinct step from using a certified product, and we are clear about which you are buying.
Can it be laid on our existing ground?
Usually, if the base is sound, level and drains. If it ponds, cracks or moves, laying over it transfers the problem upward. We check the base at survey and tell you honestly which case you are in.
How does it handle monsoon?
A properly based and drained pitch sheds water and is playable soon after rain. Standing water is nearly always a base or falls problem rather than a turf problem.
What is the difference between your 12k, 14k, 16k and 18k ranges?
Dtex and, with it, fibre weight and durability. Broadly: 12k for recreational and budget-led projects, 14k–16k for club and school pitches in regular use, 18k for the heaviest training loads. Each product page carries the full specification.
Do you handle line marking and goals?
Line marking is part of a turnkey scope. Goals, nets and fencing can be supplied alongside, we also manufacture and supply sports netting.

The rest of the ILAN range.

One partner for every surface, sports turf, courts, tracks, landscape grass and the netting that finishes a ground.
