Turf, acrylic or tiles?

Three surfaces, three very different courts. Where each one wins, where each one fails, and what it costs to keep.

Pickleball Court Surface Types

Short answer. Turf for anything with a ball on the ground and a monsoon in the calendar: football, cricket, multi-sport, tennis where you want to play the day after rain. Acrylic for competition basketball and tennis where bounce is everything and a slab is affordable. PP tiles where the court is temporary, on a terrace, or needs to come up again.

When we say acrylic.

For a competition basketball court or a tennis academy that trains for hard-court events, acrylic is right and we say so. Everywhere else the slab cost, the resurfacing cycle and the way it behaves in a monsoon push clients to turf.

When we say tiles.

A society terrace that hosts badminton in the evening and a function on Sunday. A court that will move when the site is redeveloped. Tiles are the honest answer there, and we will point you to a supplier; we do not stock them.

Questions, asked often.

Which is cheapest?

Tiles on an existing slab. But a new slab for acrylic or tiles costs more than a compacted base for turf, so turf is usually the cheapest new-build court.

Can tennis be played on turf?

Yes. ITF Category 5 sand-filled turf is a classified fast court. See tennis turf.

Where are you based and where do you deliver?

Warehouse and design office in Surat, Gujarat. Turf ships by road to every state; same day in Surat, next day to Ahmedabad and Mumbai, two to six days elsewhere. See where we build.
