40 mm
ultra soft.

Super high density.

Available in 3-Tone colourways. At 40 mm the pile reads full and green from every angle. A popular choice where the lawn is the feature of the space and appearance matters as much as durability.

Our most premium grass, the highest DTEX and density for a plush, luxurious finish. Supplied and installed by ILAN for landscaping and decorative use, this is a landscape grass, not a sports surface.

/ The 40 mm character

Why 40 mm.

40 mm adds visible depth over 35 mm without moving into showcase territory. The pile reads noticeably fuller from standing height while remaining practical for a lawn in regular use.

Underfoot

Soft and deep, with a longer recovery than the shorter heights.

Traffic tolerance

Good. Suited to family gardens; brushing keeps the pile upright on the routes that get walked most.

Specify it for

Premium residential lawns, landscaped setbacks, clubhouse gardens, terrace gardens.

Choose another height if

Narrow high-traffic corridors, where a shorter pile stays tidier with less brushing.

/ How it is built

What makes it top of the line.

UltraPro is the heaviest yarn ILAN supplies for landscape work. Four things account for the difference.

01
7300 DTEX yarn

DTEX measures the mass of the yarn, how much material is in each filament. At 7300 the UltraPro filament is substantially heavier than commodity landscape grass, which is what gives the pile its body and its resistance to splitting under sun and traffic.

02
UV-stabilised polymer

The yarn is UV stabilised so colour holds under direct Indian sun rather than fading toward grey or blue. This is the single biggest factor in how a landscape lawn looks in year three versus year one.

03
4 Layer Backing

Four bonded layers rather than the usual two: the primary cloth the tufts are stitched through, the reinforcing layers that lock those stitches, and the coating that binds the whole assembly. More layers means tuft-bind holds when the surface is brushed, walked and cleaned.

04
Perforated drainage

The backing is perforated so rain and washdown water pass straight through to the sub-base instead of pooling. On a correctly prepared base the surface is usable again shortly after heavy rain.

/ Across the range

Six heights, one yarn.

Every UltraPro height uses the same 7300 DTEX yarn. Pile depth and density are what change, and density rises with height so the taller piles stay upright.

Installation.

ILAN supplies and installs. This is the sequence a 40 mm UltraPro lawn follows on site.

01

Site measure

We measure the area, check falls and drainage, and confirm the existing sub-base. Roll direction is planned at this stage, all pile on a job runs the same way, or the joints will read as colour changes.

02

Base check

We build the base where the site needs one: excavation, compacted stone base, drainage and edging, checked for level and falls. Over existing concrete, tile or other hard surfaces we check the surface and falls instead.

03

Edge restraint

Perimeter edging is fixed so the grass has something to be secured and trimmed against, timber, aluminium or the existing hard edge, depending on the detail.

04

Laying and acclimatising

Rolls are set out and left to relax so the backing loses its roll memory before it is cut and joined.

05

Jointing

Seams are joined on jointing tape with adhesive, pile direction matched across the joint. Done properly, a joint should be invisible from standing height.

06

Trimming and fixing

Edges are cut to the perimeter and fixed down. Cut lines follow the edging so the finish reads deliberate.

07

Infill and brushing

Ballast is spread where the specification calls for it, then the pile is power-brushed upright. Brushing is what makes a new lawn look finished rather than flat.

Silica sand ballast typical; quantity set by sub-base type and exposure.

Almost no upkeep.

Landscape grass replaces mowing, watering and seasonal patching. What little it needs takes minutes.

Weekly
Brush or sweep the pile upright in high-traffic paths and remove leaves.
Monthly
Rinse with water to clear dust, the perforated backing drains freely.
As needed
Spot-clean spills with mild soap and water. Pet areas rinse clean.

Asked often.

How long does UltraPro last?
Service life depends far more on sun exposure, traffic and sub-base quality than on the roll itself. UV-stabilised yarn and a 4 Layer Backing are the two things that extend it most, and both are standard here. Written warranty terms are confirmed per order, ask us for the current data sheet.
What is the visible difference between 35 and 40 mm?
From standing height the 40 mm reads fuller and casts a slightly deeper shadow between tufts. Both share the same 7300 DTEX yarn and super-high 24-stitch density, the change is pile depth alone.
Does it get hot in the sun?
Any artificial surface in direct sun warms up, and a deeper pile holds more heat than a shallow one. Shade, a rinse with water, or scheduling use around the hottest part of the day all bring it down. This is worth planning for on west-facing terraces.
Is this suitable for a football or cricket surface?
No. UltraPro is a landscape and decorative grass. Sports surfaces are engineered differently, different yarn shape, pile, infill and certification. For play surfaces see the ILAN football, cricket, hockey and multi-sport ranges.
Can it go on a terrace or over concrete?
Yes. Over an existing hard surface the sub-base work becomes cleaning and checking falls rather than excavation. Drainage still has to go somewhere, we check that at measure, because the perforated backing only works if the surface beneath it drains.
What about pets?
The perforated backing lets urine drain through and the surface rinses clean. Shorter heights in the range stay tidier under regular pet use than the deep ones do.
How is it priced?
By area, with the installed price depending on sub-base condition, access and edge detailing. Send an area and a location and we usually return a site measure and installed price within 48 hours.
What is the difference between UltraPro and the other ILAN grass collections?
UltraPro is the top of the landscape line, 7300 DTEX yarn, the heaviest in the range, at densities from 14,900 to 20,900. Pure Green and Evergreen use lighter yarn at lower densities for projects where budget leads the specification.
